A PhD or a postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases, the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, Finland. This is a fixed-term position for one year and is available from August 2021. The selected researcher will participate in a project studying the association between oral microbiome and ischemic stroke.

We invite applications from researchers with a strong background in molecular biology and understanding in metagenomics, microbiology, and bioinformatics. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in microbiology (or corresponding) and have prior experience in above mentioned subjects. Previous postdoctoral experience is not required, but is considered as an advantage. Good communication skills with written and spoken English are essential.

The salary will be based on the salary system for teaching and research personnel of Finnish universities, which is composed of both task related and personal performance components. The starting salary on level 5 (postdoctoral researcher) is from 3450-3750 € /month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. A trial period of six months will be applied.
